    Creditor:

     A Qingdao container manufacturer. Its parent company is a Middle East state-owned run oil company (hereinafter called the Manufacturer)

    Debtor:

    A HK container leasing company (hereinafter called the Leasing Company)

    Outstanding Amt:
    US$2M
    Type of debt: Container purchase
    Case Background:

     

    The Leasing Company purchased US$2M worth of container from the Manufacturer. Due to the economic crisis in 2008, the price of container dropped dramatically. Thus, the Leasing Company delay to pay. 

    Collection Progress:

    After receiving the case, we reviewed the detail and studied the background information.

     

    • Conducted an asset search on the Leasing Company and found they had already rented out most of the containers. Only a small quantity was stolen.
    • The Leasing Company had no operation in HK.
    • The Leasing Company was operating under another name in PRC which was being acquired by an overseas corporation.
    • Conducted an investigation on the overseas buyer.

     

    We coordinated with HK & PRC lawyers to deliver statutory demands to the Leasing Company’s offices in HK & PRC and its overseas buyer .

     

    Result:

    After 3 months, the Leasing Company paid 90% of the outstanding.

  • Case 2

     

    Creditor:

    A HK electronic parts supplier (hereinafter called the Supplier)

    Debtor:

    A PRC computer manufacturer. (hereinafter called the Manufacturer)

    Outstanding Amt:

    US$100,000 

    Type of debt:

    Purchase of electronic parts 

    Case Background:

     

    The two companies had been worked together for a long time. Payments were always on time until the last transaction. The Manufacturer delayed its payment. The Supplier found out the responsible staff members had resigned. No telephone numbers could be reached.

    Collection Progress:

    After receiving the case, we reviewed the detail and visited the Manufacturer right away.

     

    • The Manufacturer was still in operation.
    • They were in serious financial difficulties and had been delaying the payments for other suppliers as well.
    • Many staff members in the Account Department had been replaced.
    • General Manager remained unchanged. He went abroad for business. 

     

    We acquired the contact information of General Manager and new staff members in the Account Department. After two weeks of negotiation, we finally managed to ask the Manufacturer to settle the case firstly. 

    Result:

    The Manufacturer paid US$10K to the Supplier within one month.
